Abstract: Object oriented technology represents the next paradigm shift in software technology for the natural gas industry. A general background in the technology is given to help provide a basis for understanding the benefits that this technology can provide in the areas of compressor control, station automation, data acquisition and even maintenance. Examples are given that illustrate current applications of this technology as well as plans to implement it to assist Columbia Gass facility management program and to reduce networking costs.
