Abstract: Backfill material used in deep well cathodic protection systems exhibited concentrations of contaminants below the RCRA regulatory limits for contaminants for toxicity characteristic. If appropriate well completion measures are taken to prevent commingling of backfill (coke breeze) with water bearing zones, it is anticipated that the continued use of the material will not adversely affect ground water.
