Abstract: It is believed that microprocessor control complicates servicing and troubleshooting procedures of instruments. In several cases this is true. however, methods are available facilitating these problems they have to be designed in and can consist of either selftest programs or defined states provided by the operational program. The capability to functionally isolate circuits is the most significant of these built-in methods.
