Title: Geometry Of Irregular Particles: Direct 3-D Measures By Surface Scans And Ct Imaging.
Author: Michael A. Taylor

Year Published: 2009
Abstract: Until recently the geometry of irregular particles has been difficult or impossible to measure. The paper describes two relatively new devices and techniques that now permit 3-d geometry to be measured directly. Scores of rocks from the construction industry were scanned and their volume and surface areas calculated. From this data many other characteristics of interest may be computed: examples presented here include density and some candidates for shape characterization.
