Abstract: This paper describes the Canadian Western LNG project. The project is designed to ship LNG from Canada to Japan beginning in 1986 and continuing for 20 years. The paper reviews the projects development and its current status and describes some of the basic and distinctive features of the proposed facility. Included are descriptions of the pretreatment and liquefaction processes, the type of LNG storage, the cooling medium and primary drivers, and the basic construction methods.
