Abstract: The 1978 first edition of the API Manual of Petroleum Measirrement Standards, Chapter 4, Proving Systems, and sections Z & 3 describes the various designs of Pipe Provers provides the calculations to be used and the procedures to be followed. Because these p r o c e d u r e s and calculations are fairly involved and difficult for the operator to perform, computers are now being used to p e r f o r m the c a l c u l a t i o n s and control the operation of the prover mechanism.
