Abstract: In general a pycnometer is a container of known volume for determining the density of a liquid. The pycnometer is weighed empty, filled with liquid, and weighed full. The difference between the full and empty weights is the weight of the liquid. Density is calculated by dividing the liquid weight by the known volume.
