Abstract: This paper examines the impact of automating calibration procedures. While manual calibration procedures are adequate to verify instrument performance, automated procedures offer several advantages. These advantages are discussed. There are disadvantages to automated procedures, and these are addressed in light of reaching a solution Concepts for an automated procedure and steps for acceptance of the process are developed. The preference for an automated procedure, correctly implemented, is established.
