Abstract: Process chromatograph applications consist of two systems that work collectively to provide critical analytical data to process operations, measurement analysts, and management to ensure accurate process control, accounting, and management direction. The sample conditioning system (SCS) and the gas chromatograph (GC) work together to extract a representative sample from the process, condition the sample to ensure it is clean and dry, and then inject it into the GC to determine the composition of the sample. It is imperative the samples integrity is maintained from the extraction point to injection in the GC to ensure accurate and reliable data. Problems can occur, mainly in the sample conditioning system, that will affect the GCs performance and will result in an inaccurate analysis.
