Abstract: All gas meters are tested to register the volume of gas in cubic feet at the existing line pressure. With the advent of pipe lines for the transmission and distribution of gas at high pressure, the problem of measurerrent arose with the question: How can gas be measured at high pressure and the volume be expressed as the number of cubic feet which would be measured by a meter at a pressure as low as that at which a cubic foot of gas is assumed to be standard?
