Abstract: Due to the increasing costs of water and the ever-increasing limits on wastes from the water treatment plant and process plant in general, new water management approaches are being developed. These new approaches stress maximum water reuse with minimum waste waters and solids produced. With this intent in mind, reverse osmosis has been developed. Now, with the recent technological developments, reverse osmosis is a cost competitive water treatment tool with the advantage of adding very little additional waste solids to the final waste stream.
