Abstract: In a natural gas pressure regulating station, as the higher pressure gas is released through a regulator into the downstream piping system, sound is produced. This sound is caused by turbulence which is introduced into the gas stream as it leaves the restriction in the regulator and then expands into the lower pressure of the downstream system.
