Abstract: While we occasionally hear synthetic diaphragms for gas meters, regulators and controls referred to as new, their history actually now covers approximately 20 years of field performance. Since the late 1930s, tremendous strides have been made in the development of the ideal combinations of frabics and compounds to produce the desirable characteristics of diaphragms for meters and regulators of all classes.
