Title: Interface Detection In Liquid Pipelines

Abstract: Crude oil and product pipelines are often used to transport petroleum liquids with different physical properties. Each unique petroleum liquid in the pipeline is referred to as a batch and the process of transporting the liquids in series through a pipeline is referred to as batching. One way to protect the integrity of an individual liquid batch is to insert batching pigs between the batches. Although this reduces the liquid mixing of interface or transmix between the batches, it can be expensive and labor intensive.
