Abstract: The importance of trace element3 in the biomedical and nutritional fields is well recognized. Thus, knowledge of the trace mineral composition of a wide variety of food stuffs and biological materials is essential. One of the most important steps in the determination of trace components, is the pre-treatment of the biological material3 prior to trace element analysis by atomic absorption spectroscopy or by inductively coupled plasma emiss, ion spectroscopy (ICP-ES). Gorsuch (1) has discussed many of the problems related to different dry-ashing and wet-ashing procedures.
