Abstract: Maintenance of measurement integrity continues to be a significant economic and technological concern. Among the many problems which relate to this responsibility is the fact that in current status, the field relies more on personal knowledge and integrity than technology in an environment where adequate capability is in short supply. While many tout automation as the saviour of industry, efforts to date have produced limited use products which oftimes increase rather than reduce costs.
