Abstract: For fiscal and custody transfer operation, statutory requirements and good practice have led to in-situ proving of liquid flowmeters. Proving has been used not only to remove the installation effects, but also to demonstrate the continuing performance of the meter. The characteristics of positive displacement meters and turbine meters have made in-situ volume proving both necessary and cost effective.
