Abstract: The Trans-Alaska Gas Project has been conceived to make Alaskan gas available to markets in both the State of Alaska and in the lower 48 states under conditions which are completely free of foreign control. The application for certification of this project was filed with the Federal Power Commission in September of 1974 and is now in competitive hearings in front of that commission. The magnitude and the serious nature of the energy shortage is now universally recognized. This shortage was anticipated by El Paso and other companies in the natural gas industry several years ago and it is now one of the most serious problems facing the United States.
