Abstract: This paper will explore the role of viscosity in the hydrocarbon industry, its effects, why and where it is measured, and the methods of achieving those measurements online. The fact that laboratory measurement of viscosity is so prevalent in process control tells us two things: 1.Viscosity is a vital measurement. 2.There are no other parameters that can be used as indicators for viscosity.
