Abstract: This paper will provide an overall view of the spot sampling task, identify the most significant factors which impact spot sampling, and offer recommendations. It will also acquaint the reader with the components used in the spot sampling process and introduce the GPA 2166 and API 14.1 standards. The main objective of the paper is to encourage the reader to approach the spot sampling task from a scientific standpoint rather than the blind cookie cutter approach.
