Abstract: To most people, the title Gas Accounting for Production Systems would imply the art of bookkeeping whereby values would be applied to gas volumes in order to determine the profit or loss of a gas production operation. Such a conclusion would be correct however, due to the many regulatory bodies having jurisdiction over gas production, the difference in tax laws of the various states and the dictates and policies of management of the individual producing companies, it will be the aim of this report to cover only a part of the overall subject, that being some of the problems and procedures used to account for the gas in a producing system. It is lhe hope and desire to present a few techniques and procedures that will be of mutual interest to all and also to stimulate a desire for all to give more considerartion to gas accounting as the problems encountered are many and varied for the personnel working in such a fast growing industry.
