Abstract: As metrologists we are typically subject matter experts (SMEs) in a technical area of measurement. However, most of us are not experts in measuring the value or impact of education and training efforts using standard models for evaluation. This paper will cover background concepts for training evaluation by Kirkpatrick/Phillips and demonstrate how we can incorporate these concepts into our metrology conferences and training sessions to demonstrate learning, application, and the impact of our efforts rather than just to see if people are satisfied with the presentations when they leave a session.
