Abstract: The technological advancements, which have been made in the electronic fields, have been tremendous in recent years. One major development has been the microprocessor. This device, which is basically a computer, has given industry a very powerful tool to use in a variety of applications. Tennessee Gas Pipeline recognizes this and has developed a microprocessor based distributed control system for reciprocating engine control. As a result of its initial use for engine control, Tennessee Gas Pipeline now has a system which can serve various other monitoring and control requirements of our compressor station facilities.
