Abstract: The focus of this paper and study is to present and highlight various methods of controlling odor release, at odorant injection and storage facilities during operation and maintenance, as well as decommissioning projects. Natural gas odorants are specifically designed for intense odor and volatility. While this functions very well for the designed application, it presents major problems for field operations. A small amount of uncontrolled odorant can quickly become a large nuisance. Odorant, even when the liquid itself is contained still spills, spills into the atmosphere. A slight breeze can carry the odor for a considerable distance. Containing and eliminating odor release is a large part of any system operation plan.
