Abstract: Proper controlvalve sizingand selectionin todays industrial world is essential to operating at a cost-effective and highly efficient level. A properly selected and utilized control valve will not only last longer than a control valve that is improperly sized, but will also provide quantifiable savings in the form of reduced maintenance costs, reduced process variability, and increased process availability. An undersized valvewill notpass the requiredflow, whilea valvethat isoversizedwillbe more costlyand can cause instabilitthyroughoutthe entire control loop.
