Abstract: At Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation it was necessary for us to locate and retire all inactive gas services and stubs in order to comply with DOT 192.727 and the New- York State Public Service Commission 255 Code. The code slates, each service line that has remained inactive for a period of two years, and for which there is no planned use. is to be disconnected or effectively sealed-off from the gas system at the main. Appropriate records shall be maintained of surveys for planned use of inactive lines and under no condition may a service line remain inactive for a period of more than five years.
