Abstract: Deregulation of the transportation industry has created a complex environment of increased competition, relaxed economics, and innovative pricing among providers of transportation services. The decision-making process surrounding the purchase of transportation services is more difficult today, but, by recognizing the opportunities and avoiding the pitfalls, savings can be realized while actually improving overall service. This article describes a strategy that can provide control during this period of change and offers stability for the future.
