Abstract: The orifice fitting has been one of the industrys leading methods of measuring gas flow for many years. Based upon Bernoullis Principle that flow can be calculated by forcing fluid through an orifice and measuring the resulting pressure drop, the orifice fitting today offers industry a combination of cost effectiveness, mechanical simplicity and statistical accuracy that makes it attractive for a wide variety of flow measurement scenarios. Over time, orifice fitting and meter run manufacturers have developed improvements that add value and ease-of-use to the end user. However, notwithstanding these and other minor dimensional or tolerance standards revisions, the operative principles of the orifice fitting have changed little over the years
