Abstract: The orifice meter has, for years, been a standard in the gas industry, and with proper operation and maintenance has proven to be an accurate method to measure natural gas. In the last few years, with the increase in natural gas prices, it has become apparent that errors in measurement are more costly than ever and need to be reduced to a minimum. Therefore, care should be taken as to the proper design, installation, operation and maintenance of the orifice meter. In the following paragraphs, we will briefly discuss the primary and secondary elements that make up the orifice meter
