Abstract: This presentation deals with the factors to be considered in selecting and implementing a Gas Dispatch System. However, to best illustrate the relative importance of each of these factors, a hypothetical gas distribution company is used, and the presentation leads the reader through typical steps which could be followed by any utility confronted with the problem of planning, selecting and implementing a computer-based Dispatch System. Key factors in each of the major steps are discussed, together with potential pitfalls and problems. No attempt is being made to create experts, rather to provide insight to, and appreciation of, the general concepts and scope of a total effort.
