Abstract: The purpose of the Gas Appliance Improvement Network (GAIN) is to increase consumer satisfaction with gas appliances by furnishing gas appliance manufacuturers with prompt, accurate, documented information about service and maintenance problems occurring in their products in the fleld. The American consumer purchases a gas appliance on the basis of cost, durability, serviceability, and cost of operation. If not satisfied with the appliance, it is safe to assume that the consumer will purchase another product. The manufacturers of gas appliances and the utility companies serving gas appliances feel the effect of such customer experiences every day.
