Abstract: Traditionally, orifice measurement has been used for gas measurement in upstream gas applications. While this technology has many benefits when applied correctly, the intent of this paper is to show how a newer technology, ultrasonic gas meters (USM), can improve volumes and decrease the risk of errors in gas measurement when used in some applications. The benefits of using ultrasonic measurement for upstream gas applications are many.
