Abstract: This paper examines the criteria used in hardware and software selection for minicomputers for control of compressor stations on the TransCanada PipeLine System Also, in this paper, we examine the installation, operation and maintenance aspects of these systems. Before we examine the above, let us define what jobs these systems perform. Basically the computer systems are designed to carry out the following functions: a) Compressor station control b) Local information display c) Data gathering for Telemetry purposes
