Title: The Use Of Deep Well Anode Systems For Gas Well Casing Cathodic Protection
Author: Matt Matlas
Source: American Gas Association 2009
Year Published: 2009
Abstract: This paper will cover the use of deep well anode systems to provide cathodic protection to gas well casings to prevent corrosion of the external casing. The discussion will cover the historical background of gas well casings and cathodic protection, the design criteria used to determine the current requirements and anode configuration, and the case history of the Sprayberry Field in west Texas where more than 1,300 deep well anode systems have been installed in the past five years to reduce casing failures, extend the life of the existing wells and ensure the reliability of new wells.
