Abstract: More interest is being shown today in the figures reflected by Gas Lost and Unaccounted For reports than ever before by the managements of gas companies. More simply put, the sereportsare also known as Discrepancy reports. Greater emphasisis being placed on the search for the cause and solution to the problem. Gas Lost and Unaccounted For represents the difference between the amount purchased and the amount sold, together with certain other usages accounted for through regular bookkeeping methods. This difference represents a commodity that we cannot afford to lose and a discrepancy that must be located and eliminated as far as possible.
