Abstract: The natural gas industry has undergone substantial changes over the last few decades. One of the largest changes has been in the way data is collected and stored. Laptops and PDAs are the most prevalent methods of data collection and storage in the field today. The use of these tools led to great leaps in productivity but in order for similar productivity increases to happen in the future and to maintain gains of the past, hardware and software must be chosen carefully. In this paper we will discuss mobile computing in the Natural Gas Industry.
