Abstract: Terasen Gas Inc., a natural gas transmission and distribution utility in British Columbia, Canada, has proposed building a test facility for turbine gas meters using carbon dioxide as the test medium. This paper describes the advantages of using carbon dioxide as a test fluid for calibrating turbine meters. It also describes the design and results of a research program conducted at Southwest Research Institute in the fall of 2003. The program investigated the suitability of carbon dioxide for use in this application, through comparison of calibrations in carbon dioxide and natural gas.
