Abstract: After 40+ years in the gas measurement industry, I look back and recognize that I missed and/or did not correct measurement problems because I did not understand some fundamentals about gas and gas measurement in my early years. This lack of understanding cost my company many dollars. This paper is written to possibly help new people in the industry become familiar with some of these fundamentals early in their career and not repeat the mistakes I made. Though this paper will explore some subjects some find boring, hopefully, it is written in a way that any newer person in the industry can relate to and use in their business.
