Abstract: Mass measurement has become the dominant method for measuring mixed natural gas liquids. This procedure requires the true density of the product be determined at flowing conditions simultaneously with volumetric measurement. The accuracy of the density meter or densitometer is equally important as the volumetric por.ion of the system in determining total pounds mass. It is essential the liquid density meter be installed, operated, and calibrated properly. The pycnometer method of calibrating density meters is the industry standard. Therefore, this paper will concentrate on the calibration of liquid density meters using the pycnometer.
