Abstract: This paper will provide the reader with a general overview of the fundamentals of natural gas metering. I will describe the basic operation and characteristics of the natural gas meters used in the industry today. Natural gas is a compressible fluid. This fact presents challenges to natural gas metering not found in liquid measurement. Compressible fluid volumes are greatly affected by pressure and temperature.
