Abstract: Historically and presently gravimetric measurements performed for governance incorporate an abitrary normalization methodology. In the past this normalization was given the name Apparent Mass Versus Brass and currently the Conventional Value of the Result of Weighing in Air, also commonly referred to as conventional mass and apparent mass. Discussed here is the concept of apparent mass or the Conventional Value of the Result of Weighing in Air, its intent, use, benefits and limitations.
