Abstract: Lost and unaccounted for gas is the difference between the total of all recorded volumes purchased or produced into your system, less the total of all recorded sales or known disposition of volumes off your system. As the term lost and unaccounted for gas indicates, it represents two volumes (1) physical leakage thru holes in pipe and (2) the unaccounted-for due to Cycle Billing, accounting errors, coding errors, measurement errors, line pack, etc. Leakage can not be completely separated from unaccounted for gas volumes. However, the intent of this paper is to help recognize and reduce the unaccounted for gas.
