Abstract: A supplier evaluation program can result in better purchasing decisions by incorporating predetermined values for factors other than price and slated delivery in the selection process. This can also be an effective means of allocating business among suppliers where the price and delivery times are approximately equal. The methodology of a supplier evaluation program considering quality and delivery performance along with engineering and commercial service is described, including the characteristics that can be assigned to these factors. Anticipated results and potential applications are discussed.
