Abstract: This paper will discuss the procedures to be followed when calculating either a volumetric or a mass quantity of crude oil, petroleum products, and petrochemicals contained in or transferred to or from static tanks or marine vessels. The procedures are in conformance with the API Manuai of Petroleum Measurement Standards (MPMS), Chapter 12 Section 1, Part 1. The procedures are intended to encourage a uniform approach to calculations where different parties using the same input data are able to reconcile quantities.
