Abstract: The Metric Conversion Act was signed into law on December 23, 1975. This law declares that the adoption of the International System of Units for measurement is the national policy of the United States. Therefore, the question is no longer whether to convert to SI or not, but rather when. This paper introduces the basics of the International System of Units (SI), shows how SI will apply to the Gas Industry and reviews some of the steps being taken within the A.G.A. to prepare for the coming conversion.
