Abstract: In December of 1974 there were approximately 55 peakshaving LNG facilities either operating or under construction in the United States and Canada. Additionally, 27 LNG satellite facilities are in operation for storage and vaporization. This is quite a record considering that while the first LNG pilot peakshaving plant was built in 1939, the eighty-two present generation facilities mentioned above have all been brought on stream since 1965. Thus the present year marks the 10th year of continuing operating experience from these facilities.
