Abstract: A guide has been developed to show what techniques should be used to develop fit-forpurpose software aimed at both users and suppliers. This guide Software Support for Metrology Best Practice Guide 1, Validation of Software in Measurement Systems (BPG1) 1 is beginning to be used to help to show that software is fit-for-purpose. The guide uses a risk based approach to select what techniques should be used and indicates how these can be audited.
