Abstract: ISO/TR 11583 1 was published in April 2012. This paper gives some information on the history of the document. It gives a brief summary of the work on which it was based. It gives, partly in an appendix, a detailed reply to criticisms of the document made at the North Sea Workshop in October 2011, and it shows how work done since October 2011 has provided support for ISO/TR 11583.
