Abstract: Many papers on LNG plants and equipment have been written and presented at various conferences during the past few years. Because LNG is a relatively new phase of the gas industry a great amount of literature is available, and the interest is encouraging with more and more people becoming involved in LNG as time goes by. The operation of an LNG plant is similar in many ways to other types of operations in the industry in that such variables as gas flow rate, temperature, pressure, specific gravity, composition, RPM, liquid level, and electrical measurement are utilized. Most of these are used daily throughout the industry. The primary difference in LNG plants and the rest of the industry would be, of course, the low temperatures encountered as natural gas goes from the vapor phase to a liquid and then back to a vapor. This transition necessitates special equipment and materials.
