Abstract: Traditionally, orifice meter signals have been recorded on-site by means of mechanical circular chart recorders. These charts are collected and integrated for volume determination. This procedure has a lengthy lag time between time of actual gas flow and time of reporting. With the advent of spiraling gas prices and penalty clauses for excess rate deliveries, both customer and supplier are looking towards quicker methods of obtaining flow volume information. By use of field mounted electronic flow computers and/or remote telemetry of orifice meter signals to a central computer, flow information is made on an instantaneous basis.
